Engineering at VamosVentures

Our Engineering division encompasses Data, IT, Security, and Software, tasked with creating innovative products and infrastructure for both internal and external stakeholders. We have multiple autonomous and collaborative teams eager to learn, share knowledge, and continuously enhance operational efficiencies. Together, we aim to construct robust and scalable systems that allow VamosVentures to expand rapidly and assist our clients in achieving their full potential.

What You'll Do

As a Security Operations Specialist at VamosVentures, your primary focus will be on preventing, detecting, and responding to security threats across our corporate and cloud environments. You will leverage existing systems and develop new tools to enhance our security capabilities. Our team is responsible for various functions within corporate security, detection & response, and infrastructure security domains; we engage in systems engineering and automation to support these functions.

Security Operations is an integral part of our broader Trust & IT organization, providing you with the chance to collaborate closely with Application Security, Corporate Engineering, GRC, and IT to enhance security configurations, promote positive employee behaviors, and proactively work to avert incidents. You will also contribute to our team's open-source project and have the opportunity to share insights through our Tech Blog. You'll be part of a team that actively engages with the broader security community and is committed to mentorship and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a highly cross-functional team to prevent, detect, and respond to security threats across VamosVentures' corporate and cloud environments.
  • Conduct security incident response, investigation, remediation, and documentation, and participate in regular threat hunting and security exercises.
  • Lead, scope, and develop features, while participating in the design and maintenance of tools and systems that support the team's domains – corporate security, detection & response, and infrastructure security.
  • Work in partnership with engineering and operations teams to drive the resolution of security issues, balancing prioritization within SLAs and respective backlogs.
  • Emphasize secure system design, valuing the importance of building solutions correctly, understanding an MVP approach, and maintaining an empathetic mindset when collaborating with others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent training/fellowship, or 3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in a corporate security, detection & response, or infrastructure security role with responsibilities for security alert triage and incident response.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD systems and DevOps workflows (e.g., Buildkite, Flux, Git, Terraform) in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience deploying and maintaining security services and tools owned by the team (e.g., SIEM, data pipelines, SOAR, domain monitoring, endpoint tooling, email protection tools, cloud security tools).
  • While not primarily a development role, experience with coding is required, as the team develops and maintains tools written in Go and Python.
  • You thrive in a collaborative environment filled with a diverse group of individuals with varying expertise and backgrounds.

Bonus Points

  • Proficiency in Go and other programming languages.
  • Experience securing distributed systems in AWS, cloud, and Kubernetes environments.
  • Contributions to the wider technical community (open source, public research, mentorship, community organizing, blogging, presentations, etc.).

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is competitive. However, the starting base pay will depend on various factors, including the candidate's location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be included as part of a total compensation package.

Please be aware that job-seekers may be targeted by malicious actors seeking personal data. VamosVentures recruiters will only reach out via official channels. Any outreach claiming to be from VamosVentures through other sources should be disregarded.
