Overview of the Opportunity:
Business Group: The GWO – Operations Control – Regulatory Trade Reporting is engaged in global initiatives that address regulatory challenges and navigate the remediation process.
Project: This initiative aims to enhance our existing trade reporting framework and improve the associated processes and controls. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with stakeholders across Operations Control, Technology, Regulatory Business Initiatives, Internal Control, and other relevant parties. Responsibilities will include gathering requirements, preparing and executing test cases, managing issues and prioritization, and providing project updates and necessary documentation.
The candidate will have the chance to contribute to a significant, high-visibility project within one of Canada's leading financial institutions, participating in a multinational effort.
Daily Responsibilities:- Act as a representative for the Operations Control team in various project workstreams focused on enhancing regulatory trade reporting:
- Lead the data mapping requirements for designated project workstreams.
- Oversee the end-to-end testing for assigned project workstreams.
- Develop business requirements for necessary changes and collaborate with technology stakeholders to translate broad regulatory guidelines into specific requirements and solutions.
- Facilitate brainstorming sessions and problem definition (e.g., developing user stories, scenarios, managing ongoing projects, etc.).
- Manage comprehensive business requirements for the implementation of trade reporting and related controls.
- Research external vendor and regulatory technical specifications to create data mappings and transformation rules.
- Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with Technology and GWO teams.
- Provide professional support to team members by serving as the primary contact for test case execution, requirements gathering, data mapping, and other assigned deliverables.
- Acquire in-depth knowledge of the internal rules engine and an overview of the bank's Trade Reporting IT infrastructure.
- Collaborate closely with Compliance, RBI, GWO – Operations Control, Internal Control, and various Technology teams to devise solutions that align with the overall business strategy and facilitate regulatory compliance.
- Work with the development team to clarify functional requirements and data mappings to ensure technical solutions meet business needs.
- Support System Integration Testing (SIT) execution.
- Create and execute UAT test cases.
- Exhibit sound judgment by evaluating operational and regulatory risks while defining solutions, requirements, or decisions on behalf of the GWO Operations Control team.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders possessing varying levels of systems knowledge.
- Conduct data analysis and validation, document field mappings, and transformation rules for integrations.
- Assist the Director in developing project plans, updates, and reporting materials.
- Contribute to the UAT test strategy and test plan formulation.
- Maintain a traceability matrix linking business requirements to test cases.
- 10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst.
- 5+ years of experience in Regulation (i.e., Trade and Transaction Reporting).
- Proficiency in writing business requirements, technical specifications, and conducting UAT.
- Understanding of the Trade Lifecycle (e.g., triggers for trade reporting).
- Familiarity with financial products/instruments.
- Experience in Financial Institutions.
- Prior knowledge of MiFID II and MiFIR regulations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to convey ideas clearly and effectively.
- Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
The ideal candidate will possess robust hands-on experience as a Business Analyst in the Regulation/Trade Reporting domain. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, will be critical in the selection process.
Educational Background:Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Interview Process:The interview process will consist of a panel video interview with two senior team members, followed by a second round with the Manager and potentially the Director. The first interview will focus on technical questions regarding the candidate's past experience and regulatory knowledge, while the second round will assess prior experience and soft skills.
