Job Summary

Homes First Society is seeking a skilled and compassionate Program Development Manager to oversee the implementation and evaluation of events, outings, and recreational activities tailored to the needs of residents at our locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather feedback from residents and staff to design and implement programs that meet the needs of clients.
  • Connect with external agencies to provide services that support program goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate program performance, providing support and making adjustments as needed.
  • Collect and analyze data on program participation and outcomes.
  • Develop communication strategies to inform residents and staff about program offerings.
  • Collaborate with the Development Team to coordinate events, obtain resources, and engage volunteers.
  • Prioritize and assign tasks to team members as needed.
  • Supervise a unionized workforce in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
  • Intervene in crises, de-escalate conflicts, and respond to client emergencies.
  • Ensure adherence to Homes First policies and procedures, including harm reduction protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments and external agencies.
  • Manage employee performance and complete administrative tasks such as timekeeping and performance reviews.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of program activities and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with people who are homeless, under-housed, and dealing with addictions and mental illness.
  • At least 1 year of experience supervising unionized staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in case management and ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Supervisory experience in a unionized setting is an asset.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, standards, and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of community resources and services.
  • Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
  • Certificates in First Aid, CPR, Crisis Prevention, and Intervention are an asset.
  • Computer literacy and ability to use information system tools.
  • Able to lift boxes up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work outside regular hours to accommodate activities such as training and events.
  • Certificate of Completion of Homelessness Learning Hub's Harm Reduction for the Homelessness Sector is an asset.
