Mental Health Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team as a Mental Health Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our patients and communities.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and assign requests for consultation to ensure timely and effective care.
- Prioritize consultations based on urgency and assessment of patients.
- Provide consistent liaison with physicians, nursing unit staff, and other healthcare professionals to build capacity and support care planning.
- Network with community programs and support coordinated transitions to community services.
- Support care coordination with relevant community and emergency services partners.
- Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN or RPN.
- Three years of recent related clinical experience in an acute care Mental Health and Substance Use setting.
- Additional training/education in opioid agonist therapies, addiction and psychiatric pharmacotherapy processes, substance use and chronic pain, Trauma Informed Practice, Harm Reduction approaches, Stages of Change, and other relevant best practices therapies.
- Two years of recent teaching experience.
- Current valid driver's license.
- Leadership skills to promote staff morale, cooperation, and risk-taking.
- Management skills to manage time and resources, implement activities to promote cooperation, and supervise responsibilities of others.
- Knowledge Integration skills to use factual information, prior learning, and basic principles and procedures to support decisions and actions.
- Human Caring and Relationship Centered Practice skills to promote client-focused care that demonstrates care for and with clients and significant others.
- Communication skills to communicate effectively with clients, families, the public, medical staff, and the members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Critical Thinking skills to integrate and evaluate pertinent data to problem-solve effectively.
- Teaching skills to transmit information intended to instruct clients and others about topics essential to health care and well-being.
- Assessment and Intervention skills to complete initial and ongoing client assessments and provide nursing care through appropriate and prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety-type interventions.
