The University of Victoria is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead the development and implementation of strategy, systems, and processes for purchasing operations and supply management.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement procurement strategies in all supply categories
- Ensure efficient and successful process for researching, planning, competing, and implementing new and enhanced supply agreements
- Lead key procurement projects in support of UVic research and administration goals
- Ensure commercial contracts are drafted, negotiated, and formed efficiently and within the framework of the Purchasing Policy
- Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related discipline, and five years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Professional certification or designation from a recognized Supply Management/Procurement organization.
- Three to five years of directly related public procurement experience, preferably in a higher education setting, including one to three years supervisory experience, preferably at the management level, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Focus on Quality – continuously monitor the quality of work and identify improvement opportunities – give and receive high-quality feedback.
- Provide Excellent Service – provide reliable and responsive service that builds positive ongoing relationships.
- See the Big Picture – make connections through daily work to UVic's vision, values, and strategic priorities.

- Be socially and culturally responsive – proactive in seeking information about social and cultural issues.
- In-depth knowledge of current trends in supply management and a vision of emerging trends.
- Knowledge of public procurement and supply agreement legal frameworks.
- Extensive knowledge of supply chain management, strategic sourcing, process improvement, operations, and project management.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to synthesize information and communicate complex information clearly, firmly, and effectively.
