Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Cook to join our dynamic Food and Nutrition Department team at Southbridge Care Homes. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring our residents receive nutritious and delicious meals prepared with love.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and prepare food according to standardized recipes and production sheets.
  • Assist the Food Services Manager in their absence and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Monitor food quality and quantity, recommending corrective action when necessary.
  • Coach Dietary Aides in food preparation procedures and serving activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and collaborate with other departments to meet resident needs.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must meet one of the following qualification scenarios:

  • Chef training or culinary management certificate/diploma from a recognized program.
  • Certificate of qualification as a Cook issued by an authority meeting the Ontario Long Term Care Act requirements.
  • Post-secondary diploma in food and nutrition management or a post-secondary degree in food and nutrition.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Red Seal Cook Trade Certification.
  • Experience in institutional large quantity cooking.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to lead and direct others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Current Safe Food Handling Certificate issued by the TBDHU.
  • Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
