We are seeking a qualified Cook to join our dynamic Food and Nutrition Department team at Southbridge Care Homes. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring our residents receive nutritious and delicious meals, prepared and served with love.

About the Role

As a Cook, you will be responsible for reviewing menus, preparing food according to standardized recipes and production sheets. You will also assist the Food Services Manager in their absence and monitor the quality and quantity of food supplies. Additionally, you will coach Dietary Aides in basic food preparation procedures and assume responsibility for routine departmental operations.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must meet one of the following qualification scenarios:

  • Chef training or culinary management certificate/diploma from a program that meets the requirements of the Ontario Long Term Care Act;
  • Certificate of qualification as a Cook issued by an authority meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long Term Care Act;
  • Post-secondary diploma in food and nutrition management or a post-secondary degree in food and nutrition.

Additional Requirements

We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills, written and verbal. You must also be able to provide direction and lead others within a busy environment. A current Safe Food Handling Certificate issued by the TBDHU and a current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check are also required.
