Summary: We are seeking a qualified Cook to join our Food and Nutrition Department team, responsible for preparing nutritious and delicious meals for our residents.

Home: Manoir Marochel

Location: Ottawa, ON

Position: Cook - Casual No Line

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing menus, preparing food following standardized recipes and production sheets.
  • Assisting with Food Services Manager responsibilities in their absence.
  • Monitoring quality and quantity of food supplies and recommending corrective action.
  • Coaching Dietary Aides in basic food preparation procedures and serving activities.
  • Maintaining required records and cooperating with other departments to meet resident needs.

Qualifications:

Must meet one of the following qualification scenarios:

  • Chef training or culinary management certificate/diploma from a recognized program.
  • Certificate of qualification as a Cook issued by a recognized authority.
  • Post-secondary diploma in food and nutrition management or a post-secondary degree in food and nutrition.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Red Seal Cook Trade Certification.
  • Experience in institutional large quantity cooking.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to provide direction and lead others within a busy environment.
  • Current Safe Food Handling Certificate.
  • Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
