Geological Specialist for Mining Operations

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE

As a key member of the Geology Department, reporting directly to the Senior Mine Geologist, you will play a vital role in achieving the strategic objectives of Agnico Eagle while upholding our core values, including Health & Safety and environmental stewardship.

  • Foster a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace;
  • Verify that all ore block mark-ups align with the established ore block design plans;
  • Ensure adherence to the ore design protocols and proper management of ore-polygon data;
  • Accurately flag and update the Grade Control block model with mineable provisional and final ore-polygons at month-end;
  • Identify and sample blast holes appropriately, ensuring NAG/PAG sampling is conducted as per established procedures;
  • Support mine geology personnel and drilling contractors in safely obtaining the most representative samples from drill rigs;
  • Compile and analyze geological data, reporting findings to enhance ore body modeling, grade estimation, and ore block movement;
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with geological staff, engineering teams, and mine operations regarding geological issues;
  • Update databases and Datamine with information from drilled holes;
  • Provide Engineering with revised drilling plans for inclusion in weekly reports;
  • Utilize geoscience expertise in drilling, sampling, QA/QC, grade control, dilution, cost management, and reconciliation;
  • Conduct geological mapping and interpretations using both traditional and digital techniques, employing software such as Datamine Studio RM or Maptek PointStudio;
  • Create block models integrating geological, structural, and grade data essential for resource/reserve estimation;
  • Process ore blast movement for mining operations using specialized equipment, software, and drone technology;
  • Perform additional duties as required.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology;
  • A minimum of five years' experience as a production geologist, ideally in an open pit mining environment;
  • Registration and good standing with the APGO or in the process of obtaining registration;
  • Eligibility for registration as a Drone pilot;
  • Proficiency in 3D software, preferably Datamine Studio RM or Maptek Vulcan;
  • Experience in geological modeling and drill core logging;
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite applications, particularly Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
