ABOUT THE ROLEWe currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mine Maintenance Lead Hand to become part of our Mobile Maintenance team, reporting directly to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor.
The Detour Lake operation is recognized as the largest gold-producing mine in Canada, boasting significant gold reserves and considerable growth potential. The open-pit mine is situated in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometers northeast of Timmins. The mine has a projected lifespan of around 22 years, with an average annual gold production of 659,000 ounces.
The Mine Maintenance Lead Hand will play a crucial role in supporting the Mobile Maintenance team by overseeing daily mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks for all mining and mobile equipment, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESYour primary responsibilities will include:
- Providing expertise and oversight for all mechanical and electrical maintenance activities related to mining and mobile equipment;
- Leading and mentoring team members to achieve maintenance safety and productivity goals;
- Developing and implementing standards and procedures that comply with all statutory and regulatory requirements;
- Assisting in the preparation of maintenance operating cost forecasts, budgets, and monthly reports;
- Scheduling and planning maintenance activities to optimize equipment performance.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A preferred Ontario provincial or inter-provincial (Red Seal) trade certificate;
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a maintenance role;
- At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory or lead hand capacity;
- Strong interpersonal and management skills, with the ability to inspire and lead a team;
- Experience with open-pit mining equipment, particularly electrical shovels and drills, is a significant asset;
- Experience working in remote locations is also advantageous.
