Job Title: Data Governance Specialist, Bilingual Spanish Speaking

Scotiabank is seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Specialist to join our team. As a Data Governance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of our data assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain comprehensive Data Governance frameworks to enhance data quality and ensure consistent data management practices across the organization.
  2. Implement and oversee Data Governance policies and procedures, ensuring they align with regulatory requirements and business objectives.
  3. Manage the Data Lifecycle, including classification, storage, retention, and deletion, to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  4. Collaborate with Data Office and Data Steward, liaising with data owners to maintain data governance standards and resolve data-related issues.
  5. Utilize Data Governance tools to maintain data catalogs, data lineage, and metadata management, facilitating easy access to data assets.
  6. Lead and execute Data Governance initiatives, collaborating with data stewards and business units to achieve data consistency and standardization.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Proven expertise in Data Governance frameworks and understanding of data protection regulations and compliance.
  3. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement Data Governance policies and procedures that ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
  4. Proficiency in SQL, data mining, and data observability best practices.
  5. Ability to lead Data Governance initiatives and projects, including the development of data dictionaries, business glossaries, and reference data management.
  6. Familiarity with Cloud environments and data governance tools.
  7. Bilingualism in Spanish/English is an asset.
