About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to provide occupational therapy services that promote recovery, independence, and overall well-being.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university and be eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT). You will also be a registered member of the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia. Your experience in developing and providing group and individual psychoeducation, as well as your skills in completing functional assessments, will be essential in this position.

You will have the ability to work independently, as part of a multidisciplinary team, and with both hospital and community-based services/agencies. Your innovative problem-solving skills and application of evidence-based practice will be valuable assets in providing patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide occupational therapy services to patients in inpatient units, including assessment, treatment planning, and implementation of interventions.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that promote recovery and independence.
  • Conduct functional assessments to identify patient needs and develop strategies to address them.
  • Develop and provide group and individual psychoeducation programs to promote patient understanding and engagement in their care.
  • Work with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to promote patient-centered care and ensure seamless transitions between care settings.
