About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Physiotherapy Resident to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a key member of our rehabilitation services team, you will play a vital role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations, or disabilities.

As a Physiotherapy Resident, you will be responsible for developing holistic treatment programs using exercises, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical, and hydrotherapy techniques to assist patients in regaining and/or maintaining an optimal level of function.

You will work collaboratively with other health disciplines, the general public, family members, and caregivers to promote health, provide physiotherapy treatment, and manage patient care. This role also involves supervising physiotherapy assistants and contributing to the evaluation of team effectiveness.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree or entry-level master's program in Physiotherapy from an accredited university. Membership with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists (Provincial licensing body) is also required.

Additionally, we seek a candidate with strong computer skills, including statistics input, word processing, and Outlook. Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS) and WHMIS training and certification are also essential.

Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French being preferred. Please ensure your resume is up-to-date and includes all relevant education, experience, training, and certifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations, or disabilities
  • Develop holistic treatment programs using exercises, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical, and hydrotherapy techniques
  • Collaborate with other health disciplines, the general public, family members, and caregivers to promote health and manage patient care
  • Supervise physiotherapy assistants and contribute to the evaluation of team effectiveness
Working Conditions
  • Full-time long assignment, 100% FTE; 75 hours biweekly
  • Approximately 12 months
  • Shifts include days and some weekends
  • Travel to various sites may be required
Compensation and Incentives

$33.97 Hourly
