About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled Physiotherapy Resident to join our team in a tertiary care setting. As a Physiotherapy Resident, you will play a critical role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations, or disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients using a detailed medical history, specific and standardized tests, and evaluation procedures to determine a physical diagnosis.
  • Develop holistic treatment programs using exercises, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical, and hydrotherapy techniques to assist patients in regaining and/or maintaining optimal function.
  • Communicate effectively with other health disciplines, the general public, family members, and caregivers regarding health promotion, physiotherapy treatment, and patient management.
  • Supervise physiotherapy assistants and collaborate with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives, participate in the evaluation of team effectiveness, and solve problems and share responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or entry-level master's program in Physiotherapy from an accredited university.
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists (Provincial licensing body).
  • Computer skills, including statistics input, word processing, and Outlook.
  • Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS).
  • WHMIS training and certification.
  • Additional courses/education/training in specialized areas or practice, such as cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, stroke rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance training, etc.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
