Job Summary:

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a skilled Home Care Support Specialist to join our team. As a Home Care Support Specialist, you will provide personal care and home support services to individuals in their own homes, promoting independence and dignity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care services, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, to clients in their own homes.
  • Assist clients with daily living activities, such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, and medication management.
  • Support clients with mobility and transfer needs, including walking assistance and transfers from bed to chair.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to clients, promoting social interaction and reducing feelings of loneliness.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses and doctors, to ensure comprehensive care and support for clients.
  • Document client care and services provided, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent required.
  • Home Care Attendant Certificate or Health Care Aide Certificate with community component from a recognized post-secondary institute.
  • Proficiency in both official languages (English/French) essential.
  • Previous experience working with the elderly or disabled in a community setting preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in clients' homes, with occasional travel to community centers or other locations.
  • May be required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • May be required to lift or transfer clients, with proper training and equipment provided.
