Job Title: Child and Youth Worker

We are seeking a skilled Child and Youth Worker to join our team at Pluming Eagle Lodge Ltd. as a permanent employee.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support and guidance to children and youth in a group home setting. This includes preparing reports, assessing client needs, and implementing life skills workshops.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare reports or case histories
  • Appraise clients' needs or eligibility for specific services
  • Perform administrative tasks
  • Implement life skills workshops
  • Assess client's relevant skill strengths and development needs
  • Conduct follow-up assessments
  • Sign language
  • Develop, co-ordinate and implement the delivery of specific services within the community
  • Housekeeping activities
  • Food preparation
  • Provide suicide and crisis intervention
  • Resolve conflict situations
  • Supervise activities of clients living in group homes and half-way houses
  • Supervise children's visits with parents to ensure their safety
  • Implement behaviour management programs
  • Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients
  • Develop service intervention logic models and outcome measures
  • Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment programs
  • Assist clients/guests with special needs
  • Accompany clients to appointments and social outings
  • Manage events
Requirements:
  • College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience
  • Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Certificate, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Community disability studies Certificate, Emergency child care first aid and CPR, Mental health first aid Certificate, Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate, Cultural Awareness Training, Medication Administration Certificate, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, Food Safety Certificate
  • Computer and technology knowledge: Electronic mail, MS Office
  • Security and safety: Criminal record check, Child Abuse Registry check, Child welfare check, Driving record check (abstract)
  • Work conditions and physical capabilities: Ability to work independently, Work under pressure, Physically demanding, Attention to detail
  • Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills, Excellent oral communication, Judgement, Values and ethics, Client focus, Excellent written communication, Flexibility, Initiative, Team player, Organized
