About The Role

As a key member of the Ta na wa Yúus ta Stitúyntsam̓ Rights and Title Department, this position plays a vital role in overseeing the construction activities at the Woodfibre LNG site. Reporting directly to the Senior Regulatory Specialist - Rights and Title, the individual will collaborate closely with the FortisBC environmental inspection team to monitor construction processes, address concerns, and implement effective solutions. This position serves as the representative for the Nation on-site, ensuring adherence to environmental and cultural standards. The Lead Indigenous Monitor will also be responsible for coordinating the efforts of Indigenous Monitors and facilitating communication with the FortisBC Environmental Inspection Team. Necessary equipment, including trucks, iPads, and personal protective gear, will be provided. Please note that this role will require pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, with potential random testing thereafter if incidents occur.

  • Familiarity with standard monitoring protocols and processes is advantageous.
  • Effective time management skills and a responsible approach to duties.
  • High emotional intelligence, integrity, and patience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with Field Maps is beneficial.
  • Ability to engage with external stakeholders, including construction teams and environmental or archaeological consultants.
  • Leadership experience in managing teams is preferred.
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to work outdoors on uneven terrain.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest and/or experience in environmental and cultural monitoring.
  • Familiarity with industrial projects and knowledge of Squamish Nation land and culture.

Compensation : $41.17 per hour, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
