The Opportunity:

Yukon Energy is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to lead our mechanical utility projects from start to finish. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing projects under the supervision of the Manager, Mechanical Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop mechanical engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare written reports for mechanical utility maintenance and construction programs.
  • Manage all phases of the project, including concept, design, construction, and closeout.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with P.Eng. Designation in Canada and eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Yukon.
  • Experience and knowledge of power utility maintenance and/or operations.
  • Detailed knowledge of mechanical engineering theory, design, and operating mechanism/parameters of hydro-generator and thermal units.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical engineering codes and standards, and regulations that apply to electrical utility generation facilities.
  • Ability to work independently on engineering projects.
  • Working knowledge of Project Management processes and principles.
  • Ability to perform project manager's role for electric utility projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and outside agents.
  • Ability to create drawings and write specifications, prepare cost estimates, prepare construction contracts, and request for proposals.
  • Self-motivated and versatile, with a strong work ethic.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license.
