As part of the Credit Portfolio Management Group (CPM), the Senior Credit Analyst will report to a Director and collaborate within a team tasked with overseeing a diverse portfolio of major US corporations and international subsidiaries across various sectors. The Senior Credit Analyst will be responsible for conducting thorough credit evaluations, reviewing legal agreements, and continuously monitoring the portfolio under the guidance of the Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Developing high-quality credit proposals and annual assessments of corporate clients to evaluate their creditworthiness, recommending suitable credit limits, terms, and conditions. This includes analyzing financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow), reviewing the client's strategic direction, assessing business risks, industry trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Creating financial forecasts and assessing debt repayment capabilities while ensuring adherence to SGS Credit Policies.
  • Recommending and updating Obligor Risk Ratings.
  • Monitoring compliance with financial covenants.
  • Examining all pertinent legal documentation (e.g., credit agreements, guarantees, ISDA, CSA) and suggesting modifications as necessary to align with SGS policies.
  • Collaborating with other CPM teams across the US, Europe, and Asia, as well as engaging with business lines, bankers, legal and compliance teams, operations, and risk management departments.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Exceptional financial analytical capabilities.
  • Proficiency in evaluating credit terms and conditions, including financial covenants, security, and collateral.
  • Solid understanding of commercial and investment banking products.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team, including interaction with teams in various locations (US, India, Europe).
  • Strong written communication skills, particularly in summarizing and assessing financial transactions (credit requests, covenant waivers, etc.).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting, legal, and regulatory frameworks relevant to the sectors involved.
  • Capability to investigate, research, and synthesize data to draw appropriate conclusions regarding observed outcomes.
  • Ability to analyze and assess counterparty risk and financial health using both quantitative and qualitative data.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

  • In-depth understanding of finance and accounting principles.
  • Experience in preparing financial projections under various scenarios.
  • Proficiency in using Word for written analysis and Excel for financial modeling.
  • Knowledge of capital markets, traded products, and committed financing facilities.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 8-10 years of experience as a credit analyst in a corporate and investment banking environment or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY:

Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is essential as the role involves regular collaboration with colleagues and partners globally.
