About the Role

TransAlta is seeking a highly skilled Renewable Energy Engineer to join our Engineering & Technical Services group. As a key member of our Asset Management team, you will play a critical role in optimizing the performance, reliability, efficiency, and risk profile of our renewable power generation assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert technical advice and leadership to operational and growth engineering teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate enterprise risks related to engineering practices, procurement, maintenance, testing, and operations.
  • Develop and implement equipment engineering standards and specifications, monitoring industry practices to establish minimum requirements and technical guidance.
  • Implement fleet-wide asset health and monitoring strategies, providing expert technical input into equipment failure investigations and asset management processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues, engage with external stakeholders, and manage external engineering contracts and consultants as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering (Mechanical or Wind-related field preferred).
  • Registered or eligible for registration with APEGA (Alberta) as a Professional Engineer (PEng), with the ability to be registered with OIQ (Québec) considered an asset.
  • A minimum of 10 years of direct experience in engineering and asset management of utility-scale renewables projects, with previous experience supporting operating plants in the Renewables sector.
  • Demonstrated expert-level technical knowledge, with the ability to solve unique and complex technical issues with innovative ideas.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex topics to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
