Job Summary

The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Operations Manager to provide senior operational support and advice to the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM). This role involves overseeing a comprehensive system of responses to urgent requests, leading and supporting divisional planning activities, and ensuring the smooth operation of the ADM's Office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Support: Provide senior operational support and advice to the ADM, including overseeing a comprehensive system of responses to urgent requests.
  • Divisional Planning: Lead and support divisional planning activities, including developing, managing, and evaluating administrative and operational management systems and processes.
  • ADM's Office Operations: Ensure the smooth operation of the ADM's Office, including providing leadership and direction to administrative staff on all administrative matters for the division.
  • Representation: Represent the ADM on various project teams, committees, and working groups as required.
  • Issue Resolution: Identify, assign, and/or resolve issues on behalf of the ADM on a daily basis.
  • Leadership and Direction: Provide leadership and direction to administrative staff on all administrative matters for the division.
  • Communication: Communicate and clarify divisional issues and priorities, and ensure all inquiries received in the ADMO are routed appropriately.
  • AR Process Management: Manage the AR process to ensure briefings/ARs succinctly identify the issues, meet quality standards, and reflect the government/ministry's policy or position.
  • FOIP Requests: Manage the administration of FOIP requests for the division, advise when appropriate, and work with the FOIP offices and other key contacts to provide responses and resolve issues that may arise.
  • Contract and Grant Management: Ensure sound contracts and grant management practices for the division in accordance with ministry and government policies, procedures, and practices.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations management, excellent communication and leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. They will also have experience in managing administrative staff and providing guidance and direction on administrative matters.
