Job Summary
The University of Ottawa is seeking a highly qualified Special Education Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for designing and implementing programs for exceptional students, extending your knowledge and skills in special education, and developing strategies for collaborating with parents, school personnel, and the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement programs for exceptional students, including assessment and evaluation strategies
- Develop and maintain relationships with parents, school personnel, and community members to ensure effective collaboration and support
- Stay up-to-date with research and local special education plans to inform program development and implementation
- Integrate information and communication technology to enhance program delivery and student outcomes
- Develop and implement strategies to promote special education at the school and board levels
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require a Master's degree in education and a specialist qualification in Special Education. You will also need recent experience in teaching or working in administration for a school board, as well as two years of experience implementing the Ontario Curriculum in Special Education. Confirmation of qualification update in Special Education and the ability to apply the Ethical Standards and the Standards of Practice of the Teaching Profession are also essential.
