Grounds Maintenance Crew Member

Job Summary:
The Shaw Festival Theatre is seeking a skilled Grounds Maintenance Crewperson to join our team. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of grounds maintenance duties to ensure the presentation of our theatre and grounds is professional and safe for patrons.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and unique grounds maintenance duties, including clean-up duties inside and outside facilities and on all grounds/properties.
- Operate equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers to maintain grounds and facilities.
- Remove garbage and debris from public areas and grounds.
- Perform tasks such as grass cutting, trimming, watering, lawn seeding/sodding, weeding, and basic planting/trimming/pruning.
- Assist with pond skimming and other duties as assigned to ensure patron safety and enjoyment.
Requirements:
- Relevant background in gardening/groundskeeping is preferred.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, patience, and respect in the workplace.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Must be able to exercise physical effort in lifting heavy items and equipment (up to 50lbs).
- Must be comfortable working outdoors and able to work on weekends as required.
Additional Requirements:
- All new hires must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, plus booster status; or a current (after October 2023) COVID-19 vaccination prior to start date.
