Position Overview: Reporting directly to the Production Supervisor, the Team Lead is responsible for guiding a production team in the assembly of products or components. This role involves training team members in both assembly and sub-assembly operations, ranging from basic to advanced complexity. The Team Lead will also participate in or lead project teams focused on process enhancement, problem-solving, lean initiatives, and new product development launches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on leadership to the assigned team, communicating daily objectives, performance metrics, and individual assignments
  • Assist with supervisory duties and employee performance evaluations in collaboration with the area supervisor
  • Conduct process audits, safety inspections, and employee training as necessary
  • Review the workspace for organization, tool availability, and material readiness
  • Accountable for the performance metrics of the assigned area
  • Assist in resolving issues related to assembly processes, materials, tools, and engineering items
  • Generate reports for any discrepancies in materials, manufacturing, quality, or design
  • Engage in hands-on production work to maintain workflow efficiency and ensure timely completion
  • Support the rework and completion of any non-conforming products
  • Facilitate new product development by producing prototypes and reviewing relevant documentation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects within the assigned area
  • Assist in identifying and implementing safety improvements
  • Support customer-required factory acceptance testing
  • Act as a backup for Health & Safety responsibilities in the supervisor's absence
  • Participate in daily team meetings, providing input and ensuring cross-functional communication
  • Utilize technical expertise to diagnose equipment malfunctions or product defects.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Proven ability to influence and motivate team members towards continuous improvement
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead a diverse team
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and schematics
  • Experience in facilitating training sessions
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Word and Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on corrective and preventive actions
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools and perform assembly tasks
  • Thorough understanding of standard production processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a leadership role is advantageous
  • Technical college or university degree, completed or in progress

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Frequent standing, walking, and bending
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools
