At Intact Financial Corporation, we're seeking a highly skilled Compliance & Privacy Lawyer to join our growing team. As an Associate Senior Counsel, you'll play a critical role in supporting our insurance brokerage subsidiaries in identifying and managing legal, regulatory, compliance, and reputational risks.

As a Compliance & Privacy Lawyer, you'll be responsible for:

  • Acting as Associate Senior Counsel on behalf of Intact Financial Corporation and its subsidiaries, primarily in the areas of insurance brokerage compliance and privacy.
  • Acting as a strategic liaison between the wholly owned insurance brokerage and Intact's Legal and Compliance department.
  • Supporting in all areas of our compliance framework, including providing legal and regulatory advice and guidance on compliance and privacy-related matters and projects, regulatory reporting and engagement, compliance training and awareness, conducting compliance risk assessments, and playing an active role in supporting stakeholders in the management of compliance and privacy incidents and breaches.
  • Proactively developing and/or implementing policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Ensuring the integrity and values of the organization are always respected.

We're looking for a candidate with:

  • Member of the Law Society of Ontario.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in compliance or privacy law at a large in-house department or insurance brokerage.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, training, and communication skills.
  • Confidence managing files independently with minimal support.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to assess the practical implications of legal risks.
  • Ability to proactively identify legal and reputational risks and propose innovative business solutions.
  • Ability to build relationships with business units and stakeholders and influence decision-making at the operational and corporate level.
  • Ability to collaborate well with others.
  • Capacity to prioritize and handle several files and projects at once.
  • Comfort with technology tools, including good working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in French and experience with Quebec law would be an asset but is not required.

**For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country**
