About the Role

The Corporation of The Municipality Of Central Elgin is seeking a highly skilled Communications Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy that showcases our municipality's vision, mission, and values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a communications strategy that aligns with the municipality's goals and objectives
  • Manage and maintain the municipality's website, social media, and other digital platforms
  • Write and edit press releases, media advisories, and other communications materials
  • Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on communications and issues management
  • Build and maintain relationships with media, stakeholders, and the community
  • Develop and implement a crisis communications plan
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistent messaging and branding
Requirements
  • University degree or college diploma in communications, public relations, or a related field
  • At least five years of experience in communications leadership, including experience in issues management, crisis management, public relations, and media relations
  • Extensive experience in providing strategic advice to senior leaders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of government processes and procedures
