About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Communications Manager to join our team at the Corporation of The Municipality Of Central Elgin. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy that showcases our municipality's vision, mission, and values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a communications strategy that aligns with our municipality's goals and objectives.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior leadership on communications-related matters.
  • Manage and respond to media inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including media, community groups, and business partners.
  • Coordinate all internal and external communications, including press releases, media advisories, and social media content.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
  • Develop and implement a crisis communications plan to ensure timely and effective response to emergencies.
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage, providing regular reports to senior leadership.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in communications.
Requirements
  • University degree or college diploma in communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • At least five years of experience in communications leadership, with a proven track record of developing and implementing successful communications strategies.
  • Extensive experience in providing strategic advice to senior leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Knowledge of government processes and procedures, particularly in the development and delivery of stakeholder consultation plans and related communications.
