At The Royal Mental Health Centre, we are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist II to join our interdisciplinary team. As a Recreation Therapist II, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic recreation programs and services to individuals with complex mental illness and substance use disorders.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs and services that cater to the diverse needs of our clients.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to develop a recreation plan for clients, taking into account their goals, skills, and functioning level.
- Provide individual and group programming, including goal setting, and ensure that information about recreation programs and services is readily available to clients and their representatives.
- Supervise student placements and volunteers, and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Facilitate and implement quality management and risk management activities for the Substance Use and Concurrent Disorders Program.
- Complete initial assessments, quarterly reports, and annual reports in accordance with the Royal's policies and procedures.
- University degree in Recreation/Leisure Studies or an Allied Health Degree with a post-grad Therapeutic Recreation diploma.
- Experience working with clients living with moderate to severe mental illness, substance use disorders, and concurrent disorders across the life-span.
- Knowledge of the impact of diagnosis on leisure functioning.
- Ability to develop, plan, and lead a variety of recreation therapy, leisure education, and participation programs that are client-centered, evidence-based, and outcome-oriented.
- Experience conducting leisure assessments, developing and delivering therapeutic programs, evaluating programs and services, documenting to reflect client-centered outcomes and progress, and facilitating links with the community.
- Experience working in a hospital, interdisciplinary setting is required.
- Membership with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario is an asset.
- A competitive salary range of $45.45 to $54.10 per hour.
