Willis Towers Watson (WTW) is seeking to hire a qualified individual for the position of Senior Construction Insurance Specialist. This role is integral to our Risk & Broking (R&B) North America team, focusing on providing exceptional service to clients within the construction sector. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in Builder's Risk and Wrap Up Liability placements, along with a solid background in operational insurance program renewals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough technical and contractual exposure assessments, review underwriting information, and create comprehensive submissions.
  • Analyze coverage options from various carriers, engage in negotiations with underwriters, and present findings to clients.
  • Support regional teams in the development of RFPs and proposals for new business opportunities.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Role Overview:

As a Senior Construction Insurance Specialist, you will be recognized by clients and stakeholders as the primary broker, responsible for negotiating terms and conditions of diverse construction-related coverages.

Detailed Responsibilities:

  • Manage brokerage duties for client renewals in the construction sector and specific project placements.
  • Provide expert leadership and guidance for broking activities, ensuring alignment with client expectations.
  • Assess all available solutions to identify and develop optimal risk management strategies for clients.
  • Formulate and implement broking strategies and conduct market negotiations.
  • Review underwriting documents, including contractual insurance recommendations, to ensure submissions align with strategic objectives.
  • Analyze client-specific risk exposures and coverage needs; prepare and present marketing proposals for renewals and new business.
  • Design and create analytical materials for clients, evaluating risks to facilitate effective market placements.
  • Oversee the preparation of draft proposals; negotiate and finalize carrier quotes, terms, and coverage confirmations to ensure clarity and certainty.
  • Bind carrier quotes, review policy documents, and confirm accurate coverage details.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with market stakeholders to secure favorable terms for clients.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including clients, carriers, WTW team members, and third-party vendors.
  • Work closely with associates from other departments that support the broking process, such as analytics and claims.

Required Qualifications:

  • Possession of necessary licenses as mandated by provincial regulations.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction insurance broking.
  • Proven technical expertise in insurance, with the ability to apply knowledge of coverage forms for program design and identify coverage gaps.
  • Capability to manage large, complex renewals and construction projects effectively.
  • Flexibility to work both independently and as part of a team, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Exceptional negotiation and influence skills are essential.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask.
  • Excellent presentation skills, both written and verbal, with the capacity to engage in complex discussions at the executive level.
  • Leadership qualities: ability to make informed decisions, manage personal workload, and seek guidance when necessary.
