WTW – Risk & Broking (R&B) North America is seeking a knowledgeable professional for the position of Senior Construction Broker in our Toronto office. This is an exceptional opportunity to collaborate with our four Canadian offices and contribute to a leading construction team in North America.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee brokerage duties for client renewals in the construction sector and specific project placements.
  • Provide expert leadership and direction for broking activities, ensuring alignment with client expectations.
  • Assess and develop optimal risk solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Formulate and implement broking strategies while engaging in market negotiations.
  • Review and prepare underwriting documentation to align with strategic objectives.
  • Analyze client-specific risk exposures and coverage requirements; prepare and present marketing proposals for renewals and new initiatives.
  • Design and create analytical materials to evaluate client risks, facilitating effective market placements.
  • Manage the preparation of proposals; negotiate and finalize carrier quotes, terms, and coverage confirmations to ensure clarity and certainty.
  • Bind carrier quotes, review policy documents, and confirm accurate coverage details.
  • Establish strong relationships with market stakeholders to secure advantageous terms for clients.
  • Engage with key stakeholders including clients, carriers, WTW team members, and third-party vendors.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues from other departments that support the broking process, such as analytics and claims.

Qualifications

  • Licenses as mandated by provincial regulations.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in construction broking.
  • Proven technical expertise in insurance, with the ability to identify coverage gaps and provide ongoing consultation.
  • Capability to manage complex renewals and construction projects effectively.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation and influence skills are essential.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks.
  • Effective presentation skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage in complex discussions at an executive level.
  • Leadership qualities: ability to make informed decisions and coordinate with others as necessary.
