School Bus Driver

Job Summary:
The School Bus Driver - Transportation Specialist is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, ensuring a secure environment at all times.
This critical role involves maintaining the school bus and taking necessary actions to ensure it is in good working order.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate school bus, transporting children to and from school and on field trips.
- Perform routine mechanical inspections, determine required maintenance, and complete repairs or arrange for repairs with the mechanical facility.
- Conduct safety checks of the vehicle prior to each trip.
- Complete tasks to ensure safe and continuous bus operation, including cleaning the interior and exterior and refueling.
- Instruct students on safety rules and supervise/enforce rules during trips.
Requirements:
- Completion of specialized bus driver training.
- Valid Class 2 driver's license with air brake endorsement and a clean driver's abstract.
- Completion of and possession of valid CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience in the transportation industry is an asset.
- Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Record Check clearance required.
Compensation and Benefits:
Hourly wage starting at $25 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications, and a favorable benefits package and pension plan.
Work Schedule:
Typical shifts are 7:00 - 9:00 am and 2:30 - 4:30 pm on school days for an average of 4 hours per day/20 hours per week.
Opportunity for additional hours for field trip coverage is available.
