Job Summary

The Aboriginal Health and Wellness Centre is seeking a skilled and compassionate Front Line Ambassador to join our team. As a key member of our Indigenous-led Rapid Access to Addictions Medicine (RAAM) Clinic, you will play a vital role in providing a welcoming and supportive environment for community members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome and support all community members entering the RAAM Clinic, including those from diverse backgrounds and identities.
  • Nurture a judgement-free and shame-free environment, focused on harm-reduction and individualized care.
  • Emphasize culturally sensitive and person-centered care, recognizing the importance of decolonizing healthcare systems and spaces.
  • Deliver safe practices in accordance with organizational standards, policies, and protocols.
  • Facilitate crowd control and clinic flow, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for community members.
  • Assist with navigation and provide support to community members as needed.
  • Ensure signage is in place and visible, including clinic instructions and flow.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to address operational issues and concerns.
  • Participate in orientation and training of new staff, students, and volunteers.
  • Complete other duties as assigned, in support of the RAAM Clinic team.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and multiple clinical operations.
  • Strong de-escalation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-moving environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to respect and promote confidentiality.
  • Basic computer skills.
Qualifications
  • High school or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience deemed acceptable by the Aboriginal Health and Wellness Centre.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
