ROLE: MINE MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

In this role, you will lead and manage maintenance personnel and resources within the mine. Your leadership will ensure the delivery of safe, responsible, and efficient maintenance services. You will support, mentor, and create an environment conducive to the success of your team.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership and Coordination of Maintenance Resources:

  1. Act as a proactive safety leader, adhering to and promoting safety and environmental regulations.
  2. Empower team members to achieve exceptional mobile maintenance services, enhancing their performance through mentorship and constructive feedback.
  3. Create an environment that enables the team to effectively deliver results.
  4. Encourage an inclusive workplace culture.
  5. Set clear objectives and performance expectations aligned with business goals and maintenance targets.
  6. Ensure training aligns with the evolving needs of the organization.
  7. Confirm that necessary resources (personnel and equipment) are available to meet targets.
  8. Foster a high-performance culture through setting expectations, conducting performance evaluations, and providing coaching.
  9. Propose innovative methods or policies to enhance performance and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  10. Conduct worksite inspections and safety observations; lead investigations as necessary.
  11. Build effective teams by leveraging diverse strengths and skills for specific tasks.
  12. Maintain professionalism within the team by exemplifying discipline and commitment.

2. Operational Excellence:

  1. Analyze maintenance performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities.
  2. Employ critical thinking to coordinate activities that maximize value, reduce costs, and enhance safety.
  3. Challenge the status quo, consistently seeking avenues for continuous improvement.
  4. Collaborate effectively to drive solutions and achieve shared objectives.

3. Collaborative Work for Operational Reliability:

  1. Provide leadership, motivation, and clear direction to the maintenance team during shifts.
  2. Coordinate with other team members to meet shift objectives.
  3. Invest in the professional development of maintenance team members.
  4. Share expertise and participate actively in team efforts.
  5. Communicate effectively using available tools.
  6. Ensure accuracy and completeness of equipment and shift logs.
  7. Report any deficiencies to the appropriate team members for resolution.
  8. Engage in multi-disciplinary teams to achieve results and common goals.

Minimum Qualifications and Preferred Skills

  1. Post-secondary diploma in heavy equipment technology or a related field.
  2. Preferred: Certificate of Qualification in Ontario.
  3. Completion of an apprenticeship is mandatory.
  4. A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician.
  5. At least 1 year of leadership experience.
  6. Proficiency in digital tools and fleet management systems is essential.
  7. Experience with lean methodologies and multi-disciplinary team leadership is advantageous.
  8. Ability to engage and empower diverse teams.
  9. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  10. Proficient in computer applications.
  11. Understanding of efficiency drivers in mining and milling operations.
  12. Self-motivated with a drive for continuous improvement in a dynamic environment.
  13. Ability to make informed decisions based on factual data.
  14. Ability to convey the significance of actions or strategies to be implemented.
  15. Knowledge of equipment structure and functions.
  16. Capability to assess equipment operational condition.
  17. Able to assist the team in identifying parts and arrangements.
  18. Ability to source and communicate specific technical information related to equipment.
  19. Familiarity with Service Information System (SIS), Electronic Technician (ET), and Hydraulic Information System (HIS) for CAT equipment is a plus.
  20. Experience with MineStar and Mobius is beneficial.
