Job Overview

The City of Wetaskiwin is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to oversee the management of our recreational facilities. This full-time, permanent position is vital for ensuring the effective operation and maintenance of all recreational venues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the operations staff in delivering exceptional recreational services.
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate the performance of recreation personnel.
  • Develop and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Oversee maintenance tasks for aquatic facilities, ensuring water quality and safety standards are met.
  • Coordinate maintenance and preparation of sports fields, including line painting and upkeep.
  • Manage the installation and removal of ice surfaces for seasonal activities.
  • Collaborate with facilities management on maintenance projects and improvements.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of community events held at recreation facilities.
  • Prepare reports and maintain statistical records related to facility usage and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and city policies.

Qualifications

  • Certification in Arena and Pool Operations.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in facility operations, preferably within a municipal setting.
  • Leadership training and supervisory experience are advantageous.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to foster positive relationships.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of facility operations, including maintenance of pools and sports fields.
  • Excellent decision-making skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
