About the Role

CBC/Radio-Canada is seeking a highly skilled and experienced National Assignment Editor to join our team. As a key member of our editorial department, you will play a crucial role in coordinating the work of reporters and editors to deliver high-quality, engaging content across our various platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the work of reporters and editors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of content
  • Consult with reporters and network colleagues to identify key story angles and priorities
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of regional, national, and international news
  • Collaborate with the information network to plan and assign coverage of major events
  • Assign stories to reporters and coordinate their work to ensure seamless execution
  • Review and edit content to ensure accuracy and quality
  • Work closely with producers and lineup editors to ensure timely and effective delivery of content
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including reporters, editors, and producers
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to ensure the highest level of quality and excellence
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in journalism or a related field
  • Seven years of experience in journalism or a related field, with a strong background in assignment editing
  • Excellent knowledge of Quebec, national, and international affairs
  • Strong understanding of newsroom logistics and digital news production
  • Superior French-language skills, with proficiency in English an asset
  • Ability to work well under pressure and independently, with strong initiative and leadership skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically
