Position Overview
As a Special Needs Education Support Assistant, you will work under the guidance of teachers to assist in the execution of specialized educational programs and the delivery of structured learning activities, aimed at achieving specific educational outcomes. You will utilize techniques, skills, and knowledge acquired through relevant experience or qualifications.
Ideal candidates will possess a Certificate IV in Education Support and have experience working with students with various needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, anxiety, and trauma. Experience in supporting students with self-regulation of behavior and social-emotional responses is highly desirable. Familiarity with strategies to enhance communication and social skills is also beneficial.
Candidates should value the development of positive relationships with students, exhibit a proactive attitude, and demonstrate the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, showcasing initiative, flexibility, and creative problem-solving skills to optimize student opportunities. Knowledge and experience with school-based programs such as Letters and Sounds, Zones of Regulation, and Multilit would be advantageous.
