Position Title: Activity Leader, Support & Inclusion

Compensation: $21.00 per hour

Work Schedule: Permanent, Part-time (17.5 hours/week)

Shift Timing: Monday - Friday 2:30pm - 6:00pm

Reporting To: Team Leader

YMCA Activity Leaders, Support & Inclusion thrive in a dynamic and engaging environment, facilitating tailored programming that enables children aged 5 to 12 to participate meaningfully in all facets of the program. Our Support & Inclusion Activity Leaders play a crucial role in ensuring that children with varying abilities or support requirements have an inclusive experience in before and after school care.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 19 years.
  • Experience working with children aged 5 – 12 with additional support needs.
  • Certification in Emergency First Aid and CRC – C & AED.
  • 20 hours of training in Child Development, Child Guidance, and/or Nutrition is an asset.
  • Experience with children with diverse needs is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate effectively with the staff team to create an inclusive environment that provides support, strategies, and resources for children with diverse needs to fully engage in the program.
  • Offer individual support to children within the program setting as needed.
  • Contribute to building a community that embraces global supports and inclusion for all children by recognizing their strengths and areas for growth.
  • Assist children in resolving conflicts and model positive behaviors.
  • Participate in the development, integration, and maintenance of care plans within the program.
  • Provide enhanced support ratios to assist all children in the program, which may include offering individual support when necessary.
