Job Title: Activity Leader, Support & Inclusion

Are you passionate about creating a safe and inclusive environment for children of all abilities?

We're seeking a part-time Activity Leader, Support & Inclusion to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Vancouver.

About the Role:

As an Activity Leader, Support & Inclusion, you will work effectively within a staff team to provide an inclusive environment of support, strategies, and resources for children with diverse needs to fully participate within the program.

You will provide individual support to children within the program setting when required, help build and contribute to a community environment of global supports and inclusion for all children, and contribute to the development, integration, and maintenance of care plans within the program.

Responsibilities:
  • Work effectively within a staff team to provide an inclusive environment of support, strategies, and resources for children with diverse needs to fully participate within the program.
  • Provide individual support to children within the program setting when required.
  • Help build and contribute to a community environment of global supports and inclusion for all children through supporting their strengths and stretches.
  • Help children navigate conflict and role model positive behaviors.
  • Contribute to the development, integration, and maintenance of care plans within the program.
  • Provide enhanced ratio to support all children in the program, which may entail providing individual support from time to time.
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Experience working with children 5 – 12 with additional support needs.
  • Emergency First Aid and CRC – C & AED.
  • 20 hours of training in Child Development, Child Guidance and/or Nutrition an asset.
  • Experience working with children with diverse needs.
