We are a leading provider of vegetation management services, dedicated to promoting sustainable practices and protecting the environment.

Job Summary:

The Vegetation Management Specialist is responsible for promoting awareness of invasive species and integrated vegetation management practices on behalf of our clients and collecting data regularly to monitor, manage, and report on the state of the invasive species in a defined area.

This is a seasonal position with work expected from early May to late September or early October.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory and control vegetation (native/invasive) throughout BC and Alberta.
  • Select and implement appropriate management and control practices.
  • Promote awareness of invasive species and integrated vegetation management practices to the public on a day-to-day basis.
  • Collect and interpret vegetation population data and monitor control efficacy.
  • Work outdoors, operating ATV's and pick-up trucks on various road conditions.
  • Perform brush saw and chainsaw operations.
  • Comply with applicable federal, provincial, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.
  • Support and act in accordance with the Company's culture of safety and employee ownership.

Requirements:

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and a clean Driver's Abstract.
  • Ability to obtain a valid Pesticide Applicator Certification relevant to the province of work.
  • Experience in vegetation management considered a strong asset.
  • Any educational background in Natural Resources, Forestry, or Environmental Science would be considered a strong asset.
  • Strong proficiency in using a chainsaw and weed whacker considered an asset.
  • Provincially relevant first aid and transportation endorsement certifications.
  • Experience using ATVs, or other off-road vehicles.
  • Able to work outside and in a range of weather conditions.
  • Physically fit to work and walk in a rough terrain area.
  • Compliance with the Company's Drug and Alcohol Policy.
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of employees, both technical and non-technical.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced, and ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees, clients, and vendors.
