Pharmacy Technician - Part Time

Campbellford Memorial Hospital is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to support our pharmacy operations. The Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in assisting the Pharmacist with various pharmacy-related tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the distribution of medications throughout the healthcare facility.
  • Oversees the computerized medication inventory system, which includes procurement of drugs, contract monitoring, expiry date tracking, and proper disposal procedures.
  • Maintains and updates the computerized patient medication profile system.
  • Prepares and labels medications in accordance with a unit dose drug distribution system.
  • Ensures the secure and safe storage of all medications.
  • Maintains accurate records in compliance with hospital policies and professional standards.
  • Engages in non-sterile manufacturing of pharmaceutical products as required.
  • Acts as a resource for nursing and medical staff by providing access to a variety of medical references within the scope of practice.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program.
  • Registered with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT).
  • Experience in a hospital pharmacy setting is advantageous.

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to operate within the full scope of practice as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in following both oral and written instructions with accuracy and reliability.
  • Familiarity with computers, pharmacy software applications, and health records databases.
  • Capability to differentiate between routine tasks and those requiring professional judgment, directing appropriate inquiries to the pharmacist.
  • Ability to utilize various medical references to assist with nursing inquiries, within the scope of practice.
  • Skilled in working efficiently in a fast-paced environment, employing strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks.
  • Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Adaptability to a dynamic work environment.
  • Understanding of ethical standards and confidentiality obligations in a healthcare setting.
