About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Total Rewards Specialist to join our Human Resources team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing specialized services within the Total Rewards department, including the administration of HRIS transactional activities, group benefits, HOOPP pension plan, leaves, and LTD/STD plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage employee life cycle, including reviewing, entering, and validating employee data into various HR systems.
- Administer group insurance benefits and pension plan (HOOPP) for all eligible employee groups, maintaining accurate data in external systems.
- Process STD/LTD, monitoring STD banks, and providing guidance to employees on sick plans.
- Respond to inquiries from managers, employees, and retirees on all matters related to Total Rewards.
- Create and maintain employee files in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Ensure data integrity of employee information entered in Meditech.
- Complete biweekly, monthly, and yearly audits.
- Participate in Total Rewards-related grievances.
- Act as an SME on TR-related items, including benefit summaries, legislation changes, and education to HR team members.
- Identify successes and opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in Total Reward surveys and provide reports as required.
- Update and maintain Total Reward spreadsheets and produce reports as needed.
Requirements
- Three-year diploma/degree in Human Resources Management from an accredited institution or equivalent recent and related training and experience.
- CHRP/CHRL designation preferred.
- HRPA membership preferred.
- A minimum of two years of recent and related Human Resources experience, preferably in a unionized healthcare environment with HRIS, employee benefits, and pension experience.
- Advanced technical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- HRIS experience (Meditech and/or MediHR) an asset.
- Demonstrated understanding of employment legislation and collective agreement administration.
- Superior organization and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize competing tasks.
- Past experience working in an HRIS and/or payroll system preferred.
- Superior work ethic, professionalism, resourcefulness, dependability, reliability, and diplomacy.
- Strong organizational skills with a keen ability to prioritize and multi-task, as well as commitment to meeting deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with varying levels of employees and to provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to make decisions, exercise judgment, and take initiative in dealing with confidential information and/or in responding to inquiries.
- Flexible with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, multitasking, and dynamic environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with varying levels of employees and to provide excellent customer service.
- Experience in handling sensitive, confidential information.
- Strong administrative and data management skills.
