Job Description

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team in the Secure Treatment Unit. The successful candidate will provide specialized care to patients with complex mental illnesses, working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary treatment team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

Responsibilities
  • Provide supportive nursing care consistent with patient treatment/rehabilitation needs and goals
  • Develop and implement creative treatment plans responsive to individual needs
  • Identify and coordinate the provision of services and resources, in collaboration with affiliate and community partners
  • Advocate to safeguard the person in care's entitlements and rights
  • Provide a safe, therapeutic environment, including crisis management and emergency nursing care
Qualifications
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Preferred certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing
  • Previous nursing experience working in psychiatric/mental health specialization
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, and Substitute Decision Act
  • Safety and Security in the Workplace Training
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in psychiatric nursing practice as articulated in the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice
  • Able to meet the Standards of nursing practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Recognized leadership skills with the ability to build the inter-disciplinary team approach to delivering interventions
  • Valid drivers' license, if required
  • English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension, and written expression
