Position Overview:

As a pivotal member of the Process Development team, the Lead Process Engineer will provide essential technical guidance in the design, development, and production of interventional cardiology medical devices. This role emphasizes mentorship, leveraging extensive experience in technology advancement and process innovation to enhance team capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the development of innovative processes and methodologies for both existing and new technologies.
  • Contribute to the refinement of technologies, products, and processes, potentially expanding the company's Intellectual Property portfolio.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in areas such as technology development, product design, and process optimization.
  • Lead technical initiatives aimed at creating new or improved products and processes, aligning with strategic objectives.
  • Utilize engineering principles to analyze and resolve complex challenges, fostering innovative solutions.
  • Influence engineering decisions regarding alternative processes and products.
  • Develop expertise in specialized fields, establishing a reputation as a leader within the organization.
  • Integrate business policies into project execution while understanding customer needs.
  • Stay informed about emerging technology trends and their implications for the business.
  • Build and maintain a network of resources to facilitate project completion and support the development of new engineers.
  • Lead project teams, setting clear goals and objectives.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers, sharing technical knowledge and offering constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate across functions and with external stakeholders, serving as a consultant for engineering interpretations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of advancements in manufacturing technologies through research and professional development.
  • Contribute to the company's Intellectual Property efforts by developing invention disclosures and patent applications.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • 9+ years of relevant experience in engineering or related fields (or 7+ years with a Master's degree).
  • Experience in training and mentoring engineers in problem-solving and process improvement methodologies.
  • Strong foundation in statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency in Design of Experiments.
  • Experience with process characterizations across diverse technologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities within a highly technical environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, across various organizational levels.
  • Experience collaborating with clinicians for product feedback.
  • Familiarity with medical device regulations and standards.
  • Able to thrive in an inclusive, collaborative, and fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the design of medical devices such as catheters and guidewires.
  • Knowledge of braiding and coiling techniques.
  • Familiarity with induction and RF heating systems.
  • Expertise in polymer and metal component design and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in fixture and tooling design.
  • Knowledge of automated work cell and equipment design.
  • Understanding of mechanical mechanism design and analysis.
  • Experience with electrical PCB and cable/harness design.
