Job Overview

The City of Ottawa is seeking dedicated individuals to oversee and enhance the delivery of inclusive recreation services. This role is vital in ensuring that our community recreation programs are accessible and tailored to meet the diverse needs of all participants, including those with special needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and implement community recreation initiatives that promote inclusivity and accessibility.
  • Provide exceptional client care to participants, ensuring adherence to individualized program plans that foster well-being in a supportive environment.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless service delivery across recreation venues.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making necessary adjustments to improve participant experiences.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a college diploma in a relevant field or equivalent experience working with individuals with special needs.
  • A minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in client care and special needs services.

Certifications

  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certifications.
  • Crisis Prevention/Intervention training certification.
  • AODA Customer Service/IASR Training.
  • Training in Ergonomic Lifts and Transfers.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Understanding of legislation protecting the rights of individuals with special needs.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and policies.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
  • Creative and reliable with a passion for community service.

  • Language requirements may vary; positions may require proficiency in English, French, or bilingual capabilities.
