Job Summary

The City of Ottawa's Recreation and Cultural Services department is seeking a skilled Program Leader to oversee the delivery of inclusive recreation programs for individuals with special needs. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional client care and ensuring the success of our programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement inclusive recreation programs that cater to the needs of individuals with special needs
  • Provide exceptional client care and support to participants and their families
  • Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to promote the importance of inclusive recreation
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and policies
  • Manage program budgets and resources effectively

Requirements

  • College diploma in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in special needs and client care
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certificates
  • Crisis Prevention/Intervention training certificate
  • AODA Customer Service/IASR Training
  • Ergonomic Lifts and Transfers training

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
  • Knowledge of special needs population
  • Training in feeding and other personal care requirements
