Program Director, Inclusive Recreation

The City of Ottawa's Recreation, Cultural & Facility Services Department is seeking a skilled Program Leader to oversee the delivery of inclusive recreation programs and services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional client care to participants with special needs, ensuring a supportive and inclusive recreation environment.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement inclusive recreation programs and services that meet the needs of diverse populations.
- Provide client care to participants with special needs, including individualized program planning and support.
- Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to promote inclusive recreation opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to special needs and client care.
- Provide training and support to staff and volunteers on inclusive recreation practices and policies.
- College diploma in a related field or equivalent experience working with special needs populations.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in special needs and client care.
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certificates.
- Crisis Prevention/Intervention training certificate.
- AODA Customer Service/IASR Training.
- Ergonomic Lifts and Transfers training.
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.
- Knowledge of special needs populations and their requirements.
- Training in feeding and other personal care requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
