Position Overview
This position is part of the Pricing and Research division, which plays a crucial role in acquiring and managing profitable reinsurance operations for Gen Re's Life and Health sector in Canada. The team also engages in extensive research to bolster client and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and/or a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience. This multifaceted role offers a comprehensive scope from both technical and client-facing perspectives. Responsibilities include:

  • Generating quotations for individual and group life/health reinsurance, including the establishment of pricing bases and securing necessary approvals.
  • Conducting experience analysis to monitor Gen Re's performance and inform pricing strategies.
  • Performing research to establish general pricing frameworks (Terms of Trade).
  • Providing risk management insights for product and process development.
  • Engaging with clients to address technical inquiries and issues.
  • Delivering presentations at both internal and external events, as well as authoring technical publications.
  • Occasional collaboration with other Gen Re offices.

Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Fellowship in Actuarial Science.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in an insurance or reinsurance context, particularly in pricing, product development, or protection insurance.
  • Strong proficiency in statistical and financial modeling.
  • Excellent risk management and commercial acumen.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel.
  • Experience with Moody's AXIS or similar actuarial modeling software.
  • Exceptional numerical and analytical capabilities.
  • A curious and proactive mindset, capable of working independently.
  • The ability to prioritize tasks while remaining adaptable to changing demands.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear, concise summaries.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues at all levels and engagement with clients.
  • A collaborative approach to problem-solving and teamwork.
