Position Overview
This position is situated within the Pricing and Research division. This team is tasked with the acquisition and management of profitable reinsurance operations for Gen Re's Life and Health sectors in Canada, alongside conducting extensive research to bolster client and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
This role encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities, providing the incumbent with both technical and client-facing exposure within Gen Re Canada. Responsibilities include:

  • Generating quotations for individual and group life/health reinsurance operations, including establishing bases, producing premium rates, and securing necessary approvals.
  • Conducting experience analysis investigations to monitor Gen Re's performance and inform quotations.
  • Performing research to establish general pricing foundations (Terms of Trade).
  • Providing risk management insights for product and process design.
  • Engaging with clients and addressing technical inquiries.
  • Delivering presentations at both internal and external events and authoring technical publications.
  • Occasional support for other Gen Re offices.

Qualifications and Experience:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and/or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an insurance or reinsurance setting, with roles related to pricing, product development, or protection insurance.
  • Strong proficiency in statistical and financial modeling.
  • Excellent risk management capabilities and commercial insight.
  • Proficient in MS Excel.
  • Familiarity with Moody's AXIS or similar modeling software.
  • Exceptional numerical and analytical skills.
  • A curious mindset.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks while remaining adaptable to changing demands.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to distill complex information into clear and concise summaries.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across various levels and engage with clients.
  • A collaborative approach to problem-solving and teamwork.
