Position Overview
This position is part of the Pricing and Research division, which is tasked with acquiring and managing profitable reinsurance operations for Gen Re's Life and Health sectors in Canada. The team also engages in extensive research to bolster client and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
This multifaceted role provides the incumbent with a broad scope of responsibilities, both technical and client-facing, within Gen Re Canada. Responsibilities include:
- Generating quotations for individual and group life and health reinsurance, including the establishment of bases, production of premium rates, and securing necessary approvals.
- Conducting experience analysis to monitor Gen Re's performance and inform quotations.
- Performing research to establish general pricing frameworks (Terms of Trade).
- Providing risk management insights for product and process design.
- Engaging with clients to resolve technical issues.
- Delivering presentations at both internal and external events and authoring technical publications.
- Occasional support for other Gen Re offices.
Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and/or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in an insurance or reinsurance setting, particularly in pricing, product development, or protection insurance.
- Strong capabilities in statistical and financial modeling.
- Excellent risk management and commercial insight.
- Proficient in MS Excel and Moody's AXIS or similar modeling software.
- Exceptional numerical and analytical abilities.
- A proactive approach with minimal supervision required.
- Ability to prioritize tasks while remaining adaptable to changing demands.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information clearly.
- Effective interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset for problem-solving.
