Job Overview

The Fashion Line Developer is a key role within the company, responsible for the management of the product assortment. This involves planning the product assortment, managing SKU counts, and ensuring the line is balanced, cost-effective, and aligns with market trends and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Assortment Planning:

  1. Develop and curate a well-rounded product assortment that aligns with the brand's identity and various market demands.
  2. Collaborate with design and merchandising teams to select the best products that ensure a balanced mix of styles, colors, and silhouettes.
  3. Analyze market trends, consumer preferences, and competitor offerings to inform assortment decisions.
  4. Conduct seasonal post-mortem analysis.

Line Costing:

  1. Work with the costing team to establish target costs for each product within the line.
  2. Analyze costing data to ensure that the product line meets profitability targets while maintaining quality standards.
  3. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising the design or quality of the products.
  4. Manage the total SKU count to ensure an optimal balance between product variety and efficiency.
  5. Regularly review and adjust SKU counts based on sales performance and market trends.
  6. Make data-driven recommendations to streamline SKUs and eliminate underperforming items.

Proposal Development for Line Balance and Assortment:

  1. Create and present proposals to enhance the balance and assortment of the product line.
  2. Recommend adjustments to the product mix, including introducing new products or retiring existing ones, based on sales data and market research.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement approved proposals and track their impact on sales and profitability.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. A certificate, DEC or university degree in a relevant field.
  2. 3-5 years of experience in fashion merchandising, planning, or buying.
  3. A strong understanding of the women's fashion industry, including market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive analysis.
  4. Excellent analytical skills with experience in assortment planning and line costing.
  5. Proficiency in merchandising software and tools, such as Excel, PLM systems, and inventory management platforms.
  6. Experience analyzing data sets for analysis purposes.
  7. Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  8. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Effective verbal and written communication skills in both French and English.
